More than 400 businesses need to recruit 42,000 workers

According to statistics from the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs about 100,000 people have not returned to work in the province. The reason is that the workers moved back to their hometowns during the recent pandemic; many workers have not returned to work because their nursery and primary school-aged children have not returned to schools. According to a brief survey conducted by the Department at more than 400 key businesses in the province, those businesses currently need to recruit approximately 42,000 laborers. However the recruitment has faced many difficulties.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien, Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs said that most of businesses have not yet hired enough workforce by the end of the year. In the coming time, the Department plans to organize many delegations with businesses having the labor demand going to the homelands of the returned workers to persuade they back to work. However, it is predicted that by end of the year the workforce in the province could be in the shortage. Those workers have been afraid that the COVID pandemic has not been controlled and they could be back to work after enjoying the Tet Holiday, the Department will fully support the enterprises’ recruitments to ensure their production at the end of the year. Furthermore, the Provincial Employment Service Center also signed Memorandum of Understanding documents with employment service centers in 10 provinces in the Southwest, South of the central, and Central Highland regions of Vietnam so that those centers can help bring those workers back to Dong Nai to work.
